Celyn Awards Night 2011
We held our Christmas Party and Awards Night at the Beaufort Park Hotel just outside Mold, and a great time was had by all, with over 60 members and
their families attending! Many thanks to Peter Cross, who very kindly provided and presented all our umpires with their own whistles, inscribed with their names on
one side and 'Celyn' on the other. Thanks also to John Marsland and Northern Forecourts, who sponsored the pre-dinner drinks to help get the party started! The 2011
Player's Player (as voted for by the club members) was awarded to Tom Simkin for his continued support and coaching throughout the year.
The 2011 award winners were:
- Best 1 - Simon Amor
- Best 2 - Bryony Cross
- Best 3 - John Marsland
- Best Junior - Alexa Holland
- Best Senior - Karl Fisher
- Best Newcomer to Celyn - Max Pedley
- Most Improved - Daisy Adamson
- Best Horse - Luca
- Best Umpire - Chris Illingworth
- Supporter of the Year - Peter Cross
UKPA Nationals 2011
Well done to all the players who represented Celyn at Nationals this year. We fielded teams in A, C, D, E, and Juniors, which is the most we have ever had!!!
After a very up and down season due to the World Cup hiatus it was great to see everyone come together for this last tournament, and even better to come away
with some prizes. Our E grade team did us proud by winning every one of their games and then beating Ledbury comfortably in the Final to take the top
spot. Congratulations also to Amy and Witty for getting Best 2. In the C grade plate our team came 2nd after a hard fought final game, but were cheered to pick up some Best numbers -
Best 1 for Max and Best 3 for John! This year our practically 'home-grown' A grade team played a nailbiting final against a very strong Kent side to also take 2nd place
in the top grade. Both the juniors (most of whom have only been playing for a few months) and the D grade had some tough games, but both teams thoroughly enjoyed themselves.
Many thanks to everyone who helped us out over the weekend. As always our support crew of parents and friends was fantastic, and in the true spirit of our club it was great to see
all our players joining the supporters and helping each other on the side of the pitch, be it though shouting encouragement, horsewalking or goal-judging. A special mention must go to Barry
as well, who once again kept the show on the road with his excellent organisation (not to mention pitch-marking skills at 8am on Saturday morning!). Bring on 2012!
